overview
Kiln Dried to required moisture content
Heat Treated to ISPM 15 international standards
At Pontrilas Packaging we have two state of the art drying kilns being fuelled by our biomass boiler, which is generated from the wood waste we produce whilst manufacturing pallets.
Each chamber has capacity for 1144 1200 x 1000 pallets and 1452 1200 x 800 pallets.
The kilns are used for two functions, Heat Treatment of pallets and Kiln Drying of pallets.

All wooden packaging materials used to export goods must comply with International Standards of Phytosanitary Measure 15 (ISPM 15); a standard developed under the aegis of the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC). This standard stipulates the need to treat all wooden materials of thicknesses greater than 6 mm in order to prevent the spread of diseases and pests carried in the wood. Pontrilas Packaging are ISPM 15 registered to supply Heat Treated products.
General reasons why companies require kiln dried pallets:
- Prevent mold
- Prevent mildew
- Prevent moisture evaporation into storage
